Fix the Nation's Health

I came across this picture that's been circulating on social media. I understand how critical and sensitive this topic is. The line that stands out the most is, "If they were their own country"... sadly we've heard this time and again, the voices only seem to be getting louder, clearer and more demanding in places.

This could be considered as a great summation of how leadership can either unite or divide a nation on key issues. In an ideal world we would have imagined that the value of Life would be considered to be beyond comparison. And that people would naturally be compelled to collaborate and work together on a solution.

In an ideal world what would be your attitude towards your fellow being and the very fragility of our Lives? The need for healthcare reform in this country is beyond doubt or debate.

Quiet simply put, lives are at stake. Given the amount of resources and time that's been committed one would have definitely hoped that the means to achieving reform  would have been more amicable or at least some where along the middle ground. Insurance is definitely a great answer but is there no other road to reform ?  It is perfectly understandable why infringing upon the rights of an individual guaranteed under the constitution, and being bold enough to do it on multiple occasions is something that a lot of Americans would simply find unacceptable.

Again, lives are at stake, being thoughtful is the least that can be asked. We can hope.. and we can pray, but there are people out there who are clearly responsible, answerable and expected to act. So, Is this the only answer to reform ? For the sake of those who are fighting to stay alive and  for those that are in their own rights unwilling to be insured could we decide to be more determined to work harder in tackling this absurd stalemate. We really need to make progress and move forward in achieving reform that's way beyond due.  The issue needs to be addressed effectively and with a sense of moral obligation and urgency. One can only hope that our leaders don't dodge or dismiss it. Sometimes we all have no choice but to accept the weight of the collective guilt and the pain that we live in a country where cars are safer and treated better than lives. We are still in desperate need of an answer that works..... Please put Lives first.

P.S ~ Being Humane should come naturally to us. Being Humane is the price you must pay in exchange for this gift called life. And No one is less worthy of it.

http://mejorhumor.com/hahah.1295.xD  "

( It's some stuff about Life, camels, nuns, priests, deserts and coitus)

To be very honest and frank, here's how I really feel,

Hey Rosa, Reminds me of the hundreds of occasions I've been flashed by girls in public, some of my friends say I'm horribly lucky, I think there is something horribly imbalanced and dysfunctional between the sexes here. "Welcome to LIFE", I guess..... ;)

A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love. ~ Max Muller

Just a little trivia and a not so sexual joke from my end,

For Your Kind Information: Probably you might have noticed my name is "Jai Krishna". In India they have always for millenniums had this complex system of ideas revolving around class, selective breeding, genetics and caste. Among the Warriors and Royal sects within Indian society, they have a very old hymn or ancient tenet that goes something like this-> " A distracted man is a dead man", followed by " When you engage in this battle called Life you do so fiercely and devotedly with all your Heart and all your Soul regardless of whether your limbs fail or they get slayed apart, you carry on fighting the good fight as long as your head is in its place.”

The union of a man and a woman, both physical and spiritual is brought to life and revered as something powerfully sacred. Some of the marriage rituals and ceremonies are just as complex, unnervingly real and spiritually engaging. These type of men and women share in a very strong bond that is emotional, spiritual and at the same time full of prescribed worldly duties, commitments, good faith and vows such as fidelity.

Let me give you two examples: Consider a man, regardless of what ever stage or circumstances he may be in within his life, if he can't control his senses, his mind, his thoughts, his actions, his behavior, he will eventually find himself in a personal struggle to harness, cope with or even try and discipline his character. Then given this circumstance such a person may lust after things in life, like the numerous men you perhaps see on a daily basis who gawk at a Woman's body. Can you imagine how easy it is to control and manipulate and enslave such a lustful person filled with such desires. You can smell desire with a pure heart from thousands of miles away especially when it is the lustful urge for things such as money, power and pleasure. On a spiritual level it is a very dehumanizing and disempowering thing that brings a man down to the level of the very base within nature and makes him more or less comparable to a brute, a beast or any other animal. Lust distracts, then it disarms a Soul and then it binds and consumes it. What difference does it make whether a chain is made of gold or iron? It simply ties one down and enslaves.

Another example is that of a King who hires weak minded and senseless soldiers. So when the enemies in the form of sensual objects, passions and pleasures attacks the body in the form of the palace they can distract the weakened and unguarded senses in the form of the lustful soldiers and enter, infiltrate and take out the Soul, that is the King.

A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge.
~Thomas Carlyle

On a personal note I have rarely seen men in my caste and community or myself get remotely carried away or distracted or even perceive or look at women this way. The test is often a hopeless and miserable failure for cupid and his arrows; he has no choice but to give up even if it is in the dead pan heat of a desert. The idea is to find your partner or Soul mate, evolve in a reasonable, intelligent, purifying, fruitful and meaningful relationship and grow and cement that trust through vows of fidelity, sacred union and marriage. This is what I understand by Mankind, He or She who is capable and blessed with the ability to create and control His/Her destiny. I also understand the lesser-Kind of men and women, who are distracted, controlled and regulated by circumstances and the seasons and in turn at times are more or less dominated, harnessed and helped or herded by those who are a step closer to their higher Human Natures.

P.S ~ Unfortunately things such as bestiality and other unnatural, oppressive and exploitative sexual acts such as pedophilia and incest are not fictional subjects that belong just to jokes and pornography, it is very real, disgraceful, disturbing, violating and damaging to its victims and the rest of us who live in its presence.
It is strange how the only little skeletal forms of regulative principles, civility and humanity that remain here in the West are being attacked and eroded exposing children and the rest of the young and maturing to mindlessness and vicious circumstances and ideologies that promote their degradation and increase the likelihood of their abuse and victimization in one form or the other.  Good Luck, I pity the poor Souls, their lack of a Humane rather than a superficially Human family. May they find some hope in their dreams and some respite from this present desert in their sleep.

And Always Remember, those hymns those ancient Warriors carried close to their hearts during the heat of the battle,

 >> "A Distracted Man is a Dead Man....." <<

I have only ever shared this with male friends who I've felt have the promise and potential to better themselves. Otherwise people here mostly rely on what their collective taxes and law enforcement can afford them to call upon the services of real men who put their lives in the line for them. It is sad how the Role of Men, Character building, Social responsibilities and Self Improvement have become trivial options with such pervading immorality and this baffling attitude.

Blessings & Best Regards.
Sincerely,
Jai Krishna Ponnappan

If it Makes Perfect Sense, No One Can Redefine Meaning

This is a comment in response to the below letter I read today,

" Jaikrishna,
Last August, I stood in a living room in Andover and talked about why our country faced a massive deficit and what it would take to move us forward as a nation.

I'm proud of what I said. I meant every single word of it. I said, "There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own." I praised the people who did get rich. I said, "You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea, God Bless!" But I asked those who make it big to invest in the next generation of kids so they will have a chance too.

Nearly one million people have watched the video from that house party. If you haven't seen the full clip, you can watch it here. And If you've seen it, you can watch it again -- and share it with your friends. Let's show Scott Brown and Mitt Romney that we won't back down:

http://www.elizabethwarren.com/nobodyinthiscountry

We don't know who is going to have the next big idea in America.

But we're pretty sure they're going to need employees who can read and write. They're going to need power to keep the lights on and clean water and functioning sewers to keep going. They're going to need roads and bridges to move their goods to market or bring customers to their store. And they're going to need police officers and firefighters to keep their businesses safe.

That's what makes America great. We make the investments together -- to put the conditions in place so that businesses can flourish and create more opportunities for all of us. And it keeps going forward. When we make it, all of us have an obligation to invest in creating the conditions so the next kid can get ahead, and the kid after that, and the kid after that.

I believe in small businesses. My brother started a small business. My daughter started a small business. My aunt started a small business--and that's where I worked when I was a teenager. I've seen up close and personal how hard small business owners work and how much they risk to make their businesses succeed.

Right now, Washington's rigged for the big corporations who can afford armies of lobbyists and lawyers -- not America's small businesses. If Republicans like Scott Brown and Mitt Romney have their way, the system is going to stay rigged for the big guys.

The Republicans have their vision for the future. It says, "I've got mine, the rest of you are on your own."

That's not the American Dream. That's not how we build a future for ourselves and our children. We build a future together.

Thank you for being a part of this,

Elizabeth"

P.S ~ I am very positive and sure that your supporters will always stay committed to you.

Heaven is blessed with perfect rest but the blessing of earth is toil.
~ Henry van Dyke

Sometimes we fail to accept the fact that regardless of the times common sense always prevails. There is absolutely no substitute for hard work. One needs to stay determined and make the effort without being too obsessed, distracted by or worried about the outcome.  It is a matter of being loyal and strongly committed to lasting and worthy values.

Perhaps at some point in your lives I am sure that many of you know what it feels like to work at minimum wage or something in range of it. Now I want you to imagine that you live a different life, you work a lot less and get paid a lot more. Lets say you are one of those fancy upper management professionals at some of those banks that are potentially preparing or are poised to fail some time in the foreseeable future. It's important to understand that within an organization like that people often resort to several tactics when it comes to management, a lot of them involve plenty of bad karma. The work may be largely monotonous, far from creative and excessively well paid. Again there are brilliant and admirable managers who are exceptional role models and then there are others who are determined to climb as high as they can and make as much as is possible giving up as little effort in exchange for it. There are plenty of examples for such organizations that may portray a facade but in actuality only serve as great case studies for any one who is curious or interested to learn about the avoidable. Eventually with age or retirement they get decommissioned but that Master-Servant-Slave Driver mentality, lack of creativity and the lust and greed for amassing the easy way by pushing the rest of us as hard as possible is very hard to let go off. They group up, they take their capital and their tactics and they hunt for opportunities to manipulate and extract more capital. For them life isn't about investing in values, places or people it's about being and living inside those perpetual gambling casinos that are locked inside their heads. Again not every one is like this there are plenty of very good exceptions but this country would have definitely been very different without them.

This election, the campaign funds seem to be pouring in like magical invisible rain from nowhere. These people that I just referred to above and the rest of their kind from around the world care very little about taking political sides for genuine reasons, a vast majority of them are strictly neutral and in search of their next   political puppet. A lot of people actively wish well and sincerely support progressives. In the face of a daunting opposition It can be understandably hard sometimes  to stay non aligned. But It's always good to know that one is sincere about keeping their words.

As for fiscal health, this is the n' th hour and yes one would have to go to any length, work with all sorts of people and use every trick there is to commit to extracting ourselves from the pit. Parallely it isn't money alone but rather access to quality Education, Healthcare and opportunities that truly have what it takes to make the American Dream a reality for so many. There are many feasible paths to this but the biggest obstacle being endless debates and bickering and no action.

For example if one were concerned about monitoring and raising children within one's family and in this country, look at all of the unpleasant things around.. that you don't want polluting your child's mind. Think about how much money and time is being spent annually towards something that is causing a moral decay and an absolute and unfortunate disintegration of values and heritage. Could you imagine what a big difference it would make to so many if you could encourage, support and inspire in a way that would ensure that that money be spent on something more constructive and meaningful in lines with the things mentioned above.

Where there is no real Will there will be an equally obvious lack of outcome.
But Where there is a Will there is always a Way.

Sincerely,
Jai Krishna Ponnappan

You Live With The Choices You Make, So Choose Wisely

This is a comment in response to an article on the Huffington Post,

Since when if ever, was making money or being rich such a crime in this so called land of opportunity, liberty, prosperity and freedom. A lot of people here spend a great deal of their lives and their days far away from things like entertainment and mainstream media, they are usually up against the wall, very busy working hard and meticulously investing their time, energy, efforts, planning and resources towards their futures. The last few years have been very tough on a lot of Americans. It is really sad to say that a lot of wealthy American investors have been forced to pay a hefty price for unwise decisions, policies, mismanaged funds and a changing country that has on several fronts become needlessly over regulated, unreliable and unattractive to anyone with a reasonable amount of justified fear, common sense and wisdom.

Your main focus should be to commit resources and invest in highly essential priorities like education and infrastructure and make things as feasible and as beneficial as possible to businesses and supporting industries. Your main focus should be to collaborate and work with homegrown industries and facilitate in making America as attractive, productive, yielding and safe as possible for investors and businesses. You can't waste away precious time and resources on unrealistic strategies like excessive governance, short term stimulus, all the pointless projects that go with it  and so many of these highly publicized attempts at job creation. These are sensible steps in the right direction but unfortunately they are not in line with what has made America prosperous historically. At times the environment, sentiments and trends are as such that it feels like you are living in a new country if not an entirely different place altogether. In other words on account of such negligence and complacence the country has needlessly slipped away and changed to such an extent that the average enterprising businessman, wealthy investor and the rest of the best of America's very own by products are all being forced to shy away or flee and find alternatives and a future offshore.

I sincerely hope and wish that people would learn to criticize and examine someone to expose their realistic capacity and abilities to conduct office and to do a reasonable job. Trying to sway or manipulate the emotions of the masses and potential voters based on deliberately disparaging and inaccurate presentations, prejudice and uncivilized passive aggressive hate won't work with the average educated or hardworking American who uses his brain and can think for himself. All this here article proves is that he has done well for himself and his family and is unlike many others who have abandoned ship and forfeited their citizenship. A person like that would succeed no matter what. The only big question off course has to do with his plans for the future and his level of commitment to America and its people. Are they family enough? Regardless of our personal opinions and tastes we must strive to wish all candidates well but the only desperate appeal at this point is to ensure the whole process is unbiased and fair. I know this expectation is perhaps a little too much to ask of some of the sections of the media and the way they are playing their strategies this election. This is understandably big fodder for those who love to sensationalize and extract stories for all they are worth. Please do not forget to engage in a bit of honest journalistic work because it is a part of your moral responsibility and obligation towards this country, its people and their future. There are always great pros and cons to such critical issues. The next four years will definitely be a sensitive phase and a critical turning point for this country. You live with the choices you make. Being sensible, thoughtful and mindful of how you, your actions and what you put out there can impact the outcome is the least that one can expect at this stage.

Again, You Live With The Choices You Make, So Choose Wisely.
I Wish You All the very Best. God Bless :)

A Comment from an Equipoised and Reasonable Centralist: How Liberals and Conservatives Write About Religion

This is a comment in response to a post I read at,

https://www.facebook.com/LearnLiberty

Usually my comments don't last very long on social media. They have a mind of their own and often strike deep and hard at the root of all things false. So I'm blogging and making a note of it :)

“Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves.” – Lord Byron

What do YOU think? Does the freedom of people depend on their ability to reason?

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=451426858222678&set=a.434963643202333.102349.187626791269354&type=1&relevant_count=1&ref=nf

Freedom from ???
Please help, this young Man needs some clarity and insight :)

No matter how wise we may think we are, those who accept their fallibility are far from fools, they are perhaps the only handful that can and may be considered remotely wise and capable of significance and intelligence. Life does not come with a promise of Liberation nor a state of Liberty. How little is the line of difference..What separates Men from Magnificent Dinosaurs. What difference does it make whether you are reasonable, irrational, a bigot, a fool or a slave if you have not known and accepted your own fallibility and the fragility of this experience called Life. Forget being anything else just try being humble. Give Humility a chance. Explore and experiment with it. It might just save the day.

If You Wish to write or argue or reason well and effectively, here are a few tips and guidelines for people of all understandings,

~ How Liberals and Conservatives Write About Religion ~

How to be a Successful Religious Affairs Journalist

"Whether you read The Guardian, The Telegraph, New Statesman or The Catholic Herald, you’re bound to stumble upon a hefty smattering of religious affairs journalism.

Whatever your belief, or lack of belief, chances are you enjoy keeping up to date with religious affairs. It may be to keep abreast of events within your own faith, or perhaps to just follow the farcical antics of other religions.

Regardless of your pre-existing viewpoint, you won’t have too much of a problem finding a piece of journalism that is conveniently tailored to your way of thinking. Indeed many recent news articles regarding the ordination of women bishops, catholic child abuse or legislation for gay marriage were spun to fit a particular point of view by the simple selection of the appropriate vernacular.

For those entrepreneurial journalists wishing to cover all bases and therefore maximize their reach, this could require rewriting each piece to tailor the language for each demographic.

In order to solve this problem I have customised the AutoCorrect feature in Microsoft Word to enable generic religious news stories to be either liberalised or conservatised to suit the target audience. The AutoCorrect function simply searches for predefined strings within the text and automatically replaces the string with the designated replacement string.

In order to liberalise your religious article, pull down the Tools menu in MS Word and select AutoCorrect. Then simply set up the function as shown in the screenshot below:

And this is what shows up for liberals,

Using Technology to Save the World One Tool..sorry...One screen shot at a time

All the trade secrets on how religion writers — depending on whether they’re liberal or conservative — edit their articles.
They just go to Microsoft Word’s AutoCorrect feature. This is what shows up for conservatives:"

P.S ~ Avoid being swayed by extremes. Try Staying Down to Earth & Centered. It can be beautiful, peaceful, blissful and It's definitely not that hard.

Best Wishes & Regards, Jai Krishna Ponnappan:)

PEACE IS THE WAY TO PEACE

Sometimes midst all this noise and chaos I feel like my words are lost, my words feel weightless and my intelligence feels insulted. Perhaps like I have often felt and concluded English for all its well intended sense of civility is an inherently deficient language that allows for only mundane and machine like messages made more primitive with time and its sticks and stones. I guess if you still try and emote the Truth it cuts like a sword regardless of the tongue.

Maybe it's better for a man such as myself to retire early, exercise reclusive spirituality and take leave into the nomadic and peaceful tranquility of the remote wilderness likened to the Himalayas. I often shared the notion with my near and Dear ones since I was a child. I guess desire is such a thing they've also wanted to see me become just like everyone and someone else rather than be and live to be as I always was meant to be.  Admire the World, savor this gift called life but don't get addicted to it, just add the sacrifices that are demanded of duty and service.

This was a post I came across on the fb page of the Hindustan Times on the 18th of Feb. 2012,
https://www.facebook.com/hindustantimes
http://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/Americas/India-Pak-Russia-China-should-wean-from-Iranian-crude-US/Article1-813199.aspx

My first response was,

"Does this translate as India, Pakistan, Russia, and China = problems ..... With or without uniforms, wars are and will always continue to taint the heart and stain the Soul with the blood of the innocent including civilians, the old, women and children. It is so crude and cruel to rob them of their lives and talk in terms of oil and gas. May God have mercy.....he is definitely not a fool nor is he blind. Life isn't perpetual so Strive for peace and you'll find an eternity full of it....."

I was quiet dissapointed with a lot of the hate speech and war mongering going on in the comments that followed, so I decided to write an exhaustive and I suppose hard hitting second response hoping that people will learn to use their minds along with their ears and loud mouths and thus be relieved and cured off of their deaf, numb and unfeeling hearts,

Here is my second response,

"Hey all you people on fb talking about glorifying war and dictating and dissecting the rule and resources of the Earth. Is life less precious than your trivial ideas, covetous and your mundane differences ? Peace is priceless, it is our birth right, who has the false authority of denying us this gift in life? It doesn't matter who he is, your father, your grandfather, your brother, your ancestors, your uncle or you your self, do you really know what it means to raise a weapon and put an end to someone's life? is killing and sinning the road to heaven or the downward spiral to sadness, a burdensome conscience and senility not clothed or protected by uniforms, blessings, medallions, badges and prayers. Would you shake hands, admire, befriend and worship the humanity in a man's heart that has murdered and taken the life of tens and hundreds in the name of war and failed attempts at civilized and peaceful coexistence, do you know of the turmoil within him and are you man enough to still glorify violence as a Godly thing. You know the monkeys in the jungle babble and bray...they eventually fight, they can't talk, they don't know of civilization, tact, diplomacy and peace negotiations. Cowards who are not man enough to face death or talk of war by sacrificing their life at its altars have no business sitting in high places and dictating and burdening the Earth with artificial wars and needless brutalities. Wars are proof we have failed as men and succeeded as brutes and beasts. Perhaps men who can't muster the strength and self discipline to reason and control their thoughts have had a very pleasant time and an undeserving drought not worrying about Hurricanes, tsunamis, storms, earthquakes and calamities unknown. Those Godly acts they can't control have fled with the failing fraternity of Mankind, even the winds and the waters know how the stench reeks of his shameless greed, pride, hate and selfishness.
Please learn to Love and Respect All Life, it's not very hard or too noble a deed and you know you are capable and blessed enough to do it......"Do onto others as you would have them do onto you"..and always remember those who live by the sword die by the sword. And if you don't practice what you preach hold your silence."

" Peace comes from being able to contribute to Peace. Peace is the way and the road that leads to Peace. Say NO to war, violence and bloodshed. Strive to pursue and stay committed to Peace from both within and without, and you'll find that an Eternity full of it eagerly awaits to greet You. " ~ Jai Krishna Ponnappan

P.S ~ The Himalayas far removed from Humanity and its chaos is in my opinion serenity personified. Yes, I guess I miss this beautiful sense of tranquility but I take an even greater and blissful joy in Selfless Service, Love and Sacrifice.....

From before,

Peace is priceless. Peace of mind can't be bought, it is hard for it to enter into even the most welcoming of hearts. But if there is one thing I strive, long and wish for every one in this world, it is PEACE.......

Peace of mind.
Peace within the Soul.
And Peace from one heart to the next.

~ Jai Krishna Ponnappan

THE SOCIAL DYNAMICS OF 'UNFRIENDED': They don't teach street in schools

TAKE IT EASY. SMILE KID,  IT CAN'T POSSIBLY HURT

This is a comment in response to an interesting infographic and article I read on the Huffingtonpost,

I was reflecting on 2011, my relationships in particular. I wanted to share this….. It doesn’t matter if you are a child, an adolescent or a grown man, else where in the world there is no 911, no justice, real safety or effective law and plenty of corruption instead of cops and courts, all sorts of hate you can’t imagine but you have to imagine it and feel it before it arrives.. just to be able to survive and stay ahead of the game. Apart from exacting needed or loving justice, Anger that owns, consumes and controls is pretty much self defeating, useless and meaningless; an ugly thing that feeds of the mind and the heart that it dwells and preys upon. I personally feel that by relieving someone of the object of their anger, prejudice or hate, I’m doing them a big favor, saving them their precious energy and time. As nice as I’ve tried to be and have always been to my true friends and acquaintances, life has toughened around my soft interiors. But I’m glad that I did my best this year to shrink my fb block list, sadly it’s seen as many names as my friend list perhaps even more and I do overview it from time to time.

I state this without conceit but with honesty and sincere transparency, this year I have been resolute, kind and as understanding as possible to those who have been more irrational to me beyond hate. I thank God for that. At times I worry about the emotional health of those who engage in hate. To be entirely honest like my family and my close friends already know, hate, it doesn't really affect me, I guess I’m sort of immune to it, used to it and I understand it all too well. Trust me, this, what you see in the article above is nothing, this here is like paradise, a piece of cake and a glass of wine, a gentle slap on the face like a fly that flies away…..The world is volatility and turbulence personified, like I said things you can’t imagine. And So,

AVOID ANGER AT ALL COSTS, AVOID SUCCUMBING TO IT, DON'T LET IT OWN YOU OR DISRUPT YOUR DAYS. LET IT BE, LET IT PASS, ACCEPT IT FOR WHAT IT IS. THERE ARE VERY FEW MEN WHO CAN TAME IT, CHANNEL IT OR HAVE THE STRENGTH OR THE AUTHORITY TO CONTROL IT BY ITS HORNS. ANGER IS A JOKE, A SMALL TRICKY TRAP OF A DEMON TO BE LAUGHED AT. AVOID IT FOR THAT IS THE ONLY REAL VICTORY YOU CAN EVER HAVE OVER IT. SMILE INSTEAD, FOR THAT IS THE BEGINNING OF LOVE…… FORGIVE IN YOUR HEARTS, MOVE ON, DO THE RIGHT THING, RESPECT AND LOVE FREELY AND UNCONDITIONALLY. MAKE THIS LIFE BEAUTIFUL AND PLEASANT. MAKE YOUR RESOLUTIONS IN THE COMING YEAR AND STICK TO IT. TRY, TRY AND KEEP TRYING, VICTORY IS EASY FOR THOSE WHO PERSIST THROUGH TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS.

Don't worry about it, grow and cull your lists if you have to. The old facts of life still apply :)

" Life is all about quality and not quantity. Value it in yourselves and others. It takes time, patience and hard lessons to recognize, realize, rethink, reprioritize and redefine yourself both inside and out. "

Wishing You PEACE, HAPPINESS, GOOD FRIENDS & LOVE,
Jai Krishna Ponnappan :)

PROTECT IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act: A Case for Better Preparedness

This isn’t an Argument but rather a Case for Better Preparedness and a Broader Strategic Realignment

It is important to note the big difference between technology firms such as Google, social media platforms such as Facebook and the Motion Picture Association of America and the Recording Industry Association of America. It is unacceptable and unfair to claim to talk about a middle ground or a reasonable position of compromise that is fair without understanding how they all function as businesses.

This a comment in response to a post on TAP: Technology | Academics | Policy's Community Page on Facebook
https://www.facebook.com/TAPolicy

Quoting from the article,
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/06/idUS6947526520111206

‘claims that Congress’ efforts against online piracy would “break the internet” and usher in censorship and “Finding a reasonable solution to the problem of online piracy and counterfeiting is too important to let hysterical, ideological posturing and threats influence public policy,”

…… these types of responses are completely understandable and absolutely expected and anticipated by most people in the technology industry. It is sad that even in this day and age despite all the progress and radical growth and impact that we have seen, some people still think of the internet as a place that is mostly or solely meant for sharing music, movies and proprietary digital content. I’m quiet certain that given this attitude the people entrusted with the job are not likely to focus on the challenges, that will greatly impact the way in which many sites are carefully designed and function around the way in which people openly and freely use the internet. Technology firms have to constantly adapt to people, their consumers, the average internet user, the competition and the trends and a comprehensive sketch of their patterns of behavior, market conditions and changing habits online. Sales and Marketing strategies for most internet based commercial transactions and even for media giants are based firmly on many of these highly relevant fundamentals that are intrinsic to how the Internet works and evolves. The condescending naivety with which these things are ignorantly referred to as ‘Hysteria and ideological posturing’ unmistakably proves that the issues that are central and matter evenly from the perspectives of all parties concerned, including sites such as Google, social media platforms, small/ medium sized businesses, independent publishers, the internet itself and the public who use it, are least likely to be considered on the basis of facts and rational argumentation.

This is strictly an opinion……:I think it is important for people, especially high profile technology firms and highly used websites to stop worrying about or wasting anymore time dealing with these types of policies and the market conditions and legal/economic environments that may come about, and start embracing new strategies to allocate a budget and try their best to develop neutral technologies and neutral technological barriers that will fully enable them to selectively or terminally insulate themselves from certain sections of mainstream media that are most likely to abuse the provisions of this Act and also make efforts to protect themselves from a legal system that may affect the environment in which their business processes function or provisions that could be used to unfairly target them, their media partners and ultimately their business itself. If you wish to engage in business or promote sales and business interests of big content owners then you must carefully setup the mechanism to ensure everything occurs contractually and not otherwise. It is also highly advisable to buy insurance coverage for legal liabilities or allocate sizable amount of funds to safeguard against these types of possible risks and threats (Many publishers and firms who were anticipating this and that I’m aware of have millions in coverage and pay hefty premiums as an added overhead to their existing budgets) .

The public must use the example of China and see what has happened to their internet users in the recent past to psychologically prepare themselves to start having access to only a certain percentage of sites, servers and domains present on the World Wide Web and be very…. Very….. careful as to how they use the internet or rather how they should not use the internet to share any copyright protected content whether it is for their personal use or if it is with their friends, their family or on other social media platforms. Even if they have their own content which they may wish to publish online they must take extra measures to avoid placing any third party media elements on the site or incase they don’t have the financial backing they must also avoid making references to potentially harmful material that could be used again to implicate them legally under the provisions of the Acts. I’m not expecting it but I hope and pray that the people who are rushing to promote these laws will show the same level of enthusiasm when it comes to educating the masses and the online community about the exactly ‘N’ number of ways in which they could be in trouble while sharing online or while assuming that they are exercising their constitutional rights. This will make these companies with an online presence responsible for the actions of people who may choose to supposedly, deliberately or allegedly “misuse” the technologies and platforms that they are providing or in other words they’ll be the first to be held responsible if the measures that they have in place fail.

I’m not saying that we are another China – II in the making, but we are definitely starting to look something like many of these countries especially since people and industries here are desperately trying to stay ahead and in many cases are trying to stay in par with the competition, especially in terms of growth, advancing technologically and having the financial health, resources, supporting industries/infrastructure and the means to realign the strategic outlook of their future.

The people in China didn’t make a lot of noise and even if they did there is no way you could have heard it,

I hope the following link clearly hints you to accept the fact that industries here, that could and should potentially complement and even achieve a great synergy in many ways, are not quiet any where near doing the same. Where there is self centeredness there can be no synergy.

I’m an optimist, I believe that adapting to problems and adopting solutions aggressively is the key mantra to survival in this day and age. Time is too precious a resource that can easily outweigh all others. It takes a reasonably intelligent and logical mind to respect the rights, the freedoms, the time, the lives, the voices and the problems of others.

I don't know if there is a difference of mentality or outlook or culture when it comes to the people working in the concerned industries, I don't know if this difference is irreconcilable either but there comes a point where we have to look beyond mere arguments and our differences and think of the collective higher good. Showbiz can be a funny word that means different things to different people, art to some, ratings to others and $Money$ to the people who matter the most. Business can get dirty at times and life can get tricky, but we need to appreciate and learn by dealing with the challenges we face rather than imposing them in a way that sidelines the rights of others and the public who are outside the industry and don't quiet understand what are the substantial and legitimate concerns that plague the industry, address and bring out those issues in a way that will not cause it to be confused with other broader rights. I wish every one both my dear friends in Technology and others in the Entertainment/ media industry the very best. Why argue when you have the means and the choice of being civilized enough to talk and state your concerns in a respectful, constructive and viable way. It doesn’t matter who or what you represent or what your business interests are, there is nothing you can’t achieve by putting people first above all else : )

Sweet Sleep ~ Understanding The Science of Sleep by Jai Krishna Ponnappan

I came across this interesting article on the Washington Post Social Reader on facebook,

http://www.hindustantimes.com/Lifestyle/Wellness/Why-even-4-hours-of-sleep-is-enough/Article1-774229.aspx

( If you’re already logged into facebook here’s the social plugin url, http://bit.ly/vjDIe0 )

I found this comment by one of the readers to be very true in my experience....."Our body sleeps in multiples of 1.5....if u will sleep as in like, 1.5 hrs, 3 hrs, 4.5 hrs, 6 hrs, etc you will feel fresh after waking up and will not have post sleep syndrome..those who are intelligent and observant can try this and will agree with me..".

I understand that there's always been a mixed response of surprise, disbelief and prejudice in some cases.

Introducing You to the Sleepless Elite

Here is another very interesting, well researched, more detailed and factual article by The Wall Street Journal I had read and responded to earlier this year. Of all the sleep related articles and research findings a scanty sleeper can possibly read, this has to be among the more relatable and accurate genetic study to date that has been carried out in recent years,

http://professional.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703712504576242701752957910.html?mg=reno-wsj

“For a small group of people—perhaps just 1% to 3% of the population—sleep is a waste of time.
Natural "short sleepers," as they're officially known, are night owls and early birds simultaneously. They typically turn in well after midnight, then get up just a few hours later and barrel through the day without needing to take naps or load up on caffeine.

They are also energetic, outgoing, optimistic and ambitious, according to the few researchers who have studied them. The pattern sometimes starts in childhood and often runs in families. While it's unclear if all short sleepers are high achievers, they do have more time in the day to do things, and keep finding more interesting things to do than sleep, often doing several things at once.”

I was particularly interested and intrigued by this. To be absolutely honest it made me feel more normal and less guilty about my lifestyle choices and sleep habits. All a person has to quiet simply do is to get tested and come to accept the fact that he has the genetic marker and will probably pass it on to his offspring as well. Perhaps some may choose otherwise if they’d rather just fit into the crowd and be just another social replica created by an uninformed choice. If you come from a martial race or an aristocratic background and if that's been your genetic lineage and breeding the chances are very high that you may be able to relate and find concurrencies among the things mentioned here. If you were to research and investigate the historic demographics of populations from across the more antiquated parts of Eurasia that have actively fielded or constituted martial occupations from generation to generation, you’ll find a rough congruence in the numbers that are the sleepless elite that is about 1-3% and the slightly larger 4-12 % that have historically fielded military careers regardless of rank and status. In times of war, to sleep is perhaps the most unsafe thing that you can do, it clearly and unambiguously factors in and determines who is most active and engaging and ultimately who stays alive and who wins in the larger game of survival. These seemingly unnatural habits and superhuman limits are actually very natural and understandable if you care enough to have an open and respectful attitude towards others and our collective and undeniable wealth of history.

Do the people who work so hard, sleep different and display heightened energy levels get labeled, stereotyped, criticized and called names? Yes, it happens all the time, but nature has her own array of mechanisms to surpass and override the problems that social creatures often tend to encounter as they progress and evolve both as individuals and as a collective."

"The one thing that matters is the effort.  It continues, whereas the end to be attained is but an illusion of the climber, as he fares on and on from crest to crest; and once the goal is reached it has no meaning.  ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Wisdom of the Sands, translated from French by Stuart Gilbert"

PEACE IS PRICELESS

Peace is priceless. Peace of mind can't be bought, it is hard for it to enter into even the most welcoming of hearts. But if there is one thing I strive, long and wish for every one in this world, it is PEACE.......

Peace of mind.
Peace within the Soul.
And Peace from one heart to the next.

Being a peace maker is easy and natural for Souls who choose and strive for Peace.

I had posted this link and shared this message earlier on my facebook page,

My Comment: "Well, If there was someway you could put a 1000 crystal balls to work and magically uncover their ambitions and intentions, I guess you'd be shocked and petrified to say the least. Things like the Anti Satellite missile program, simulations of actual wars with neighbors and the rest of it....all while maintaining superficial paper treaties for trade, profit and temporary illusions of peace. All I can say is, Apprehensions should give way to reality checks and better preparedness, as bad as it may sound it is never too late or unreasonable to respect a possibility especially when it begins to thicken the waves that it looms in....." ~ ~Jai Krishna Ponnappan
I feel sorry...... it disturbed and troubled me to read the title of this article here on the Dailymail,

“There is no way to peace, peace is the way.”
~ A. J. Muste

Well, Dear dailymail.co.uk. Can you read my mind ? jk ;)

From deep within my heart I strongly believe that it is only in our best interest to confront, respect and embrace the Truth ..... especially when it is about all the realities that we live in. Visions and insights are most useful, effective and powerful only when they are at their precise, intuitive, intelligent and longest best :)

Here is a comment and a sincere appeal to you, the reader's higher nature in response to the above article,

So, really....Can you read my mind ?

I hope so.....Just dig into the Disadvantageous Policies, Strategic imbalance, massive Financial shifts and an unbiased summary and a consolidated view of the last 150 years of human history and world affairs. A lot has radically changed in that time, and change isn't the concern but sustainability definitely is. Apart from their increasing prominence and growth nothing has drastically changed with China, they only keep building layer upon layer, year after year. Sometimes you can't help but admire and perhaps even desire to incorporate such accelerated levels of growth and all the other industrious attributes, but a Mismatch of values, ideologies and ambitions is sadly a bit tricky to deal with. Keep in mind all of this fuels a large military, a growing arsenal and an increasingly head heavy and domineering regime.

“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr

Americans need to strive and prioritize retaining this country's status as a strong politically and economically stable, growing and robust super power. Education, healthcare, empowering the masses, nation building and a culture of growth should never be assumed or taken for granted, maintaining the position of a world leader is twice as hard as getting there . Rust clad broken bridges, debt ceiling dilemmas  and cities like Detroit are a painful reminder of how this country has stopped producing the same levels of skilled and economically productive men and women (across all classes including the elite) that once paved the way forward a generation or two ago. Such things should never have to be irrationally dismissed or suffer this level of unjust and deplorable neglect.

Please be more selfless and pay more attention and help ease local economies and homegrown industries into a steady period of growth and economic self sufficiency by cycling back on several fronts to the people who work to make these accomplishments a reality. Slow Recovery is understandable and acceptable but never forfeit a position of advantage that may be hard to come by again. Financial institutions and Industries such as banking need a massive but necessary overhaul that will make them more accountable, regulated and answerable. If that pill is too hard to swallow, remember that they serve as the backbone for the rest of the economy.
Once leaders and politicians get elected they must brush aside their paralyzing differences and make their commitment to America their highest objective and goal.

Super Powers that don't align in their values or cooperate rarely coexist. Where ever and what ever the cause may be, Wars are a curse that makes life in this world miserable, violent and painful. We should always do our best to explore all possibilities for peace, for peaceful coexistence, balance, trust and sensible conflict resolution. We should as a collective always try our best to avoid resorting to bloodshed, war and violence especially when we have the option of being less sinful and belligerent towards each other well within the reach of our tamable hands.

May God, Humanity and our higher natures forbid such a dark and gloomy prospect from depriving us of a more civilized, evolving and peaceful future.May God Bless America and keep this nation true to the blessing that it has been for Humanity, Hope, Liberty and Freedom and the millions who trust and embrace it.

Wishing All of Humanity Love, Peace, Prosperity, Hope and Coexistence,
Prayers, Heartfelt Love & Regards,

Jai Krishna Ponnappan
