The "Right Level of Taxation", An illusion in the Eye of the Beholder

This is a comment in response to a post on LibertyNewswire,

The Original post (I'm hoping this is just another case of the usual sarcasm),

" JFK was obviously an idiot.

God Bless JFK. God Bless America.

Response:

The "right" level of taxation, if there is such a thing, is often purely so, only in the eye of the beholder. The most prominently stated reasons for tax reform are either wrong or dangerously oversimplified. The lower tax rate offsets taxes paid at the corporate level, encourages risk taking, investments and entrepreneurship, offsets the effects of inflation, and prevents "lock-in".

P.S ~ So you think being allegedly 'idiotic' is why great and celebrated Leaders such as him have sadly had to pay with their priceless lives. Regardless of such tragic Truths, this will always remain a Free country, striving to remain free without the social burdens of excessive taxation on the one end and debt slavery on the other. Watch the republicans if they succeed in the coming weeks and many of these naysayers avoiding the obvious and the practical will probably choose to swallow  these baseless ideas that are against lowered tax rates.

The best way to reduce poverty is through stronger economic growth. Growth means more jobs, which is a surefire instrument in the fight against poverty and a painfully slow recovery. Building a strong economy means keeping taxes and government spending low.  For example, when a state has a low tax burden, economic growth is stronger. Economic growth delivers more job creation and higher per capita and higher median family incomes. Economic growth is always a powerful means to encourage and pull people and extract whole communities and local economies out of poverty. Although some policymakers seem understandably deluded and misguided in trying to justify high taxes for the sake of the poor, the higher taxes and related spending do little to reduce poverty rates. Rather it is proven and clear to see that states with healthier, investor friendly and more welcoming economic climates fair better and have much more success in lifting people out of poverty.

The socio-economic causes and circumstances of, and solutions to, poverty are very complex and numerous indeed, but one policy is clear: Low tax rates are a significant factor in achieving the universal goal of poverty reduction whilst simultaneously facilitating economic recovery and stimulating growth.

The Spirit of Freedom is The Spirit of Love

Re-posting this interesting excerpt seen on Intellectual Takeout ,

"All riches must finally fall into the gap between thoughts and things. Governed by mind but caught in matter, assets must afford an income stream that is expected to continue. The expectation may shift as swiftly as thought, but things, alas, are all too solid and slow to change. The kaleidoscope of shifting valuations, flashing gains and losses as it is turned in the hands of time, in the grip of 'news,' distributes and redistributes the wealth of the world far more quickly and surely than any scheme of the state.

The belief that wealth consists not chiefly in ideas, attitudes, moral codes, and mental disciplines but in definable static things that can be seized and redistributed — that is the materialist superstition. It stultified the works of Marx and other prophets of violence and envy. It betrays every person who seeks to redistribute wealth by coercion. It balks every socialist revolutionary who imagines that by seizing the so-called means of production he can capture the crucial capital of an economy. It baffles nearly every conglomerateur who believes he can safely enter new industries by buying rather than by learning them. It confounds every bureaucrat of science who imagines he can buy or steal the fruits of research and development.

Even if it wished to, the government could not capture America’s wealth from its 1 percent of the 1 percent. As Marxist despots and tribal socialists from Cuba to Greece have discovered to their huge disappointment, governments can neither create wealth nor effectively redistribute it. They can only expropriate and watch it dissipate. If we continue to harass, overtax, and oppressively regulate entrepreneurs, our liberal politicians will be shocked and horrified to discover how swiftly the physical tokens of the means of production dissolve into so much corroded wire, abandoned batteries, scrap metal, and wasteland rot."

~ George Gilder, 'Unleash the Mind'

Response,

Isn't it amazing how we fail to learn, or 'Unleash the Mind' as Gilder rightly put it, despite so many of these examples that remain lost and buried in the forgotten pages of history. The diverse values that make this country so unique and blessed, indeed are of a very personal Nature. Despite all the adversities including the shifting tides of globalization it is extremely difficult and close to impossible to shake or take something so personal away. Sadly, you only understand the meaning of what is dear and priceless when it is lost or when you have newly discovered what you have never had.....

This is another article I wrote a while ago relating to the same subject. I wanted to share some of these deeper sentiments and thoughts from around the world,

The Spirit of Freedom is The Spirit of Love

This is a response made to a very valid, interesting and mind opening note made by my friend Princess Erika de Krutova,

" I do not understand. America is so strong on freedoms. I have read your Constitution many times in an effort to incorporate some ideas and items into our country. How is it that freedoms can be taken away? Everyone in my country and almost all I know across Europe envy the American way of life and freedom it brings." - Princess Erika de Krutova

Here are some of the colorful and inspiring responses that were made.........

Sherry Lee: "Freedom cannot be taken away of heart mind and spirit but evil people empowered by satan want to enslave because that is the nature of the beast. They want to destroy happiness on the planet and light and fill every soul with terror. I have worked with these people. There is no logic, love or sanity in their universe. Only darkness. They create destruction. If they enslave a few they will enslave the world through advanced technology. I wrote a book about this. It is called 'In Satan We Trust'- Age of destruction. The devil gains whatever power he can. The foolish servants of the anti Christ dominate to get control. Anyone with half a brain knows this sick power won't stay in the hands of a few. It will spread and lead to world destruction unless it is stopped. This can't have a good outcome...."

Michael Scott:"Seems to be a combination of greed based economics and an evil need to change something established by a previous person in power. Freedom is a commodity it seems in so many ways and a country can go bankrupt in private and turn the tables of any constitution. There is much to say abou this. I am so glad you are asking. It is wonderful to hear you interest and passions......"

Simon Templar:"When considering American freedom you should start with the Declaration of Independence "We hold these truths as self evident..." Then move on to the Constitution. The Constitution is more of a document outlining how the national government should operate and the authorities it is granted. The first ten Amendments secure many of the freedoms that Americans enjoy. However, the power of big government is always a threat to those rights. The Constitution clearly states that those powers not enumerated within the document are reserved to the states and the people. However, the "New Deal" the federal government usurped many of those rights under the banner of the "Interstate Commerce Clause." The degradation of rights among the American people can be directly attributed to this one interpretation of the Constitution. Freedom is lost through fear. When fear enters our society the people willingly forfeit their freedoms so that they feel safe and secure. Therefore, you will always see some incident that creates fear in the people, economy problems, terrorism, etc. prior to the government removing rights and liberties. And always remember, there is the ideal of American freedom and the reality that those freedoms are always subject to a politician's interpretation........"

My comment and response to add to this excellent discussion,

I agree with several of the valid points made by Simon. I strongly believe that this ' Ideal of American freedom' is still truly well within the reach of all Americans regardless of the political environment, primarily because this ideal and the very Spirit of it is something deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of almost every generation of Americans to date. You must never alienate the fact that the capitalism we have here and the economy it supports has thrived alongside this freedom. Perhaps most of the doubts, wider issues, corruptions, fears and the rest of the problems we face today stem from the inherent flaws of capitalism, whether it is the uneven distribution of wealth, opportunities or the current ill health of our economy. For better or for worse, with time change is imminent and inevitable. As far as the ideas of corruption, uneven distribution of power and abuse of authority are concerned we are still in the infantile stages as compared to some of the well established cultural norms and structures elsewhere in the world. As long as Americans can still vote, Politicians can and will be replaced. As long as Americans still have a voice and some of the brave and pro active journalists continue to do their jobs we will always question, expose and root out any and every form of high handed corruption that threatens our freedom and liberty. Freedom is a rare quality, with many facets and dimensions. This ' Ideal of American freedom' is more than just a sentiment; it is immaculate and has no hypocrisy or so called evil infiltrating its definition since its birth several centuries ago. This is something emotional, psychological and most certainly something beautiful and spiritual that every American carries deep within his heart and mind. Psychologically, yes, I agree that fear comes and goes but most certainly it has a role and a part to play in giving us the window of opportunity to weed and root out some of the flaws and socio-economic problems we face today. Unlike many resentful perceptions, this Freedom is something very obvious in almost every generation of Americans. If you compare an average American with let's say someone else there is something very obvious, unique and special in the way he/she is thinking, evolving and functioning, that sense of independence has a very strong personal side to it, which has been handed down from generation to generation and can rub off very easily on someone who is open minded and open hearted enough to accept the truth that is innate and germane to this freedom and to this nation. Perhaps the only serious threat that many of us overlook and side step is the fact that if what we face today continues to dwell and grow, creating an environment where corruption, high handedness and abuse of authority prevails and instills growing fears in the hearts and minds of our young working men and women, the youth of this nation and the new generation, then we risk creating a generational gap and may fail to propagate this gift of freedom to our children and to our future. This to me is very unlikely because of the level of awareness that is currently widespread among the educated, enlightened and bright minds that serve as the wheels, the engine, the fuel and the driving force of this nation.

On a broader economic context, capitalism has its cycles, and just as they did during the great depression, the Americans of today will face and overcome this test with the strength of our Spirit. They will never fail to surge this nation forward and this ' Ideal of Freedom' is certainly somewhat of an untainted divine gift that serves as their God given right to continue to face their fears, problems and strive forward into a future filled with socio-economic and cultural evolution, opportunities to growth and prosperity for all, and the many countless gifts that come with carrying the ideal of Freedom in your heart. The Spirit of freedom will never fail those who have placed their trust in it. That's what it takes to be an American. This, my opinion, is the Truth that I have had to live with, the Truth that I have observed and the Truth that I continue to study.

It doesn't matter where you're from or where you're going, this sense of freedom will stick and stay with your Soul no matter what. As they say Freedom isn't free but it is worth so much more than all the gold in the world, and we treasure it with all our hearts and all our lives.

Many thanks to my friend Princess Erika de Krutova and her friends for providing such an insightful and eye opening discussion. I hope, pray and wish everyone the best of what the Spirit of freedom has to offer and give to all its children.

Love, Peace, Freedom, Best Wishes & Blessings to You All,

Freeing the Creative Flow ~ A Flourish at the Frontiers of the Human Condition

"If you have anything really valuable to contribute to the world, it will come through the expression of your own personality, that single spark of divinity that sets you off and makes you different from every other living creature." ~Bruce Barton

This is a comment in response to a post by my friend Nuria Fuente,

http://hedgemason.blogspot.com.es/2012/08/freemasonry-and-intellectual.html

Below is an Excerpt from the original entry,

"Radu Balanescu, a Grand Master of the Grand National Lodge of Romania, summed up what intellectuals do, why they are important, and what awaits any group that fails to generate them among its members, when he noted that "an elite intellectual, a thinker, is a person who restores to humanity its essence. This is the motive for the gigantic impact thinkers have had in the history of the world. This is the reason why collectivities deprived of great thinkers decay relatively quickly, pervert themselves and are eliminated toward the edge of human history."

Response,

'  Really well written, Nuria. Thank you for sharing this observation.

"Imposing The Edge of Human history"
as opposed to
"Exploring and Expanding the Frontiers of the Human condition"

The Reality of Redemption Requires Loving and Tireless hands

This curbing edge.. this limiting boundary is what is being defined in the United States of today. The trend has also had a more wider and adverse impact on the quality of life of the individual as it pertains to his/her Personal Freedoms and the most fundamental levels of both inner and outer Liberties.  Owed to several factors  both internal and external, many of the warnings that the founding fathers stated seem to have come alive to a significant extent. Sadly it is just a little too much to ask of such a collective to produce the likes of Jacques-Geoges Plumet, or Alain Bauer. The very Spirit of Creative flow has been hindered at its roots to create an increasingly dependent and servile society with an equally inhuman sense of social order. Every Human life is precious, meaningful, gifted and beautiful. Granting this boundless attribution and meaning to an individual is the only harmonious way to ensure the health, growth, evolution and significance of a greater collective comprised of such individuals.

Free men are attributed with an essential and kind sense of hospitality, mutual respect and a voluntary desire to preserve, collaborate and work towards a state of stability, prosperity and social harmony. Such words describe the nature of many more things that have been stripped off late from the free as they are forced to comply and conform to questionable standards, stereotypes, ideologies and schools of thought that serve agendas and personal interests more than anything else . It is a shame indeed to state the obvious but as I am sure people all around the world know, there is also a deliberation to slowly but surely crack down on instruments that can provide or ensure such a sense of individuality, independence and freedom. It should suffice to say that we live in an increasingly global society with its many entities that intend to exercise a greater influence in reshaping America and the American identity. Given these facts I personally feel it is not entirely fair to remark that America has failed or ceased to produce the likes of such Architects of Humanity, Thought and the collective Conscience that shapes us. It seems what we have or are in the process of building is a social machine instead. It may not impress as much and it may be a hallmark of what nullifies true Human Potential but it is still roughly comparable to a communist regime that works and extracts from its clearly designated set of parts. People are not parts, it is indeed a sad and hateful thing to enslave a person. It is kind of like capturing and fastening chains around a wild animal that was always designed and born to roam free. It is an unnatural act that is contrary to what makes us Human.

Your Life is a Gift. The Greatest Service You can do is to be Free and Fruitful in Living its Truth.

"There are one-story intellects, two-story intellects, and three-story intellects with sky-lights. All fact collectors, who have no aim beyond their facts, are one-story men. Two-story men compare, reason generalize, using the labors of the fact collectors as well as their own. Three-story men idealize, imagine, predict, their best illumination comes from above, through the skylight." ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes

The most beautiful thing that we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.

What You Believe in, Serves as your path. You are Entitled to the Truth, only if You are Free to Shape and Author your beliefs, lessons and experiences with the Life that you live. No one can do what is expected of You. Your path and these steps are yours alone to walk.  '

An Inclusive & Free America ? From Circles & Whispers to Measured Opinions..... ?

"Wealth is an offspring of Liberty and True Independence. Peace is a creation spawned by Freedom and Choice, it is a gift showered upon those that toil and strive away from the false tranquility of servitude." ~ Jai Krishna Ponnappan

It is easy to find out just why migrating to Europe never seems like such a bad idea to many. These are very interesting times indeed. A while ago, one would have never even entertained or considered such a thought. I understand why some people with vested interests and self inflicted dependencies get on their knees and bow down, and strive to serve, promote, mimic and emulate a communist China. By observation Marxism and Communism are still far away but a centrally controlled Socialist police state definitely seems to be in the works. And it looks like some very blessed people down south have had enough of watching this country change. Unfortunately all they need is to take themselves seriously. They seem resourceful enough to be serious about such a stance. Just as an observation I guess..perhaps, America has changed or begun the process of such an uncharacteristic step away from its defining values ..but it really does seem like some Americans haven't.

Measured opinions carry a lot of weight. One shouldn't have to retract them or apologize for having a voice. Opinions.....One can't help but study them.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/texas-judge-warns-possible-civil-war-president-obama-230545603.html

Judge Tom Head was on a local TV news show making his case for a tax increase, when he said hiring extra sheriff's deputies would especially be needed if Obama wins in November.

"He's going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the U.N., and what is going to happen when that happens?," Head asked.
"I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.
"Now what's going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in U.N. troops. I don't want 'em in Lubbock County. OK. So I'm going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say 'you're not coming in here'.
"And the sheriff, I've already asked him, I said 'you gonna back me' he said, 'yeah, I'll back you'. Well, I don't want a bunch of rookies back there. I want trained, equipped, seasoned veteran officers to back me."

P.S ~ Just as a note it is important to understand that one person can never be solely responsible for works that require the efforts and minds of many. It is amazing how a Nation so Free could possibly relate to "Made with Communism" while cultivating needless dependencies that hurt its own people and their independence.

Defend Wolves in Wyoming

The federal government—at any time—will abandon its protection of Wyoming wolves and allow them to be hunted relentlessly, according to published reports. Earthjustice is asking the Obama administration to prevent the slaughter, and will consider legal action if protections are removed.

It is really sad, unfortunate and painful to see such a cruel, barbaric and inhumane act.. repeatedly threatening to happen in this day and age, right here across several places in America. This is shocking at a time when we are trying our best to teach children and young people about conservation, alternative green lifestyles and restoring ecological balance. If this is the way we treat a voiceless creature, what low standards of civility and sanity have we set for the rest of Humanity? We have learnt so little from the number of species that have been decimated by us in the past. This type of cruel and unfeeling attitude will come back and around to haunt those who are unwilling to evolve in their hearts and their heads. They ought to Respect, Love and Value Life if that is what they expect for themselves.....

"Any decision to delist wolves must be based on science, not political whims. Until Wyoming has a management plan that will maintain a viable wolf population, Wyoming wolves should remain protected under the Endangered Species Act. Any plan that is not science-based will jeopardize wolf recovery in the entire Northern Rockies region.

In fact, a dangerous loophole in Wyoming's proposal would make it legal to kill wolves in the state no matter how few remain.

I support wolf restoration in the Northern Rockies. The federal government has spent 17 years and millions of dollars to return wolves to the West, but the Wyoming proposal combined with the delisting and hunting of wolves in Idaho and Montana threatens to undo the recovery that is under way. The US Fish and Wildlife Service originally opposed the Wyoming plan but then changed its mind; it was right the first time.

This devastating plan permits wolf hunting in important wildlife corridors and unregulated wolf killing throughout most of Wyoming.

Please help us keep this brutal proposal from ever seeing the light of day.
Stand up for wolves today by opposing this deadly proposal.

The federal government has spent 17 years and millions of dollars to restore wolves to the West. But Wyoming’s proposal now threatens the recovery that is under way—even including a dangerous loophole that would make it legal to kill wolves no matter how few remain.

Wyoming’s wolves should remain protected under the Endangered Species Act until they have fully recovered and there are laws in place to ensure their survival. Tell the White House to stand up for wolf protections and oppose any plan that allows politics to decide the fate of an imperiled species."

Update as of November 2012

DON'T LIKE WOLF HUNTS? DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Stop The Extermination Of Wolves !

Wyoming has just 328 wolves, but it's now perfectly legal to shoot, trap and gas them throughout most of the state. More than 40 wolves have already been slaughtered, and the rest are essentially on death row.

If this makes you upset, Wyoming needs to hear from you! We have an action set up for you to send a letter directly to Wyoming Governor Matt Mead. Tell him it's unacceptable that his state is allowing these animals to be slaughtered when we've spent so much time and effort rescuing them from the brink of extinction.

Here's the link to the action page: http://ow.ly/eWLPd It’ll take less than a minute.

Please SHARE to get your friends to take action too – the remaining 200+ wolves are depending on you!

How Steep is that Fiscal Cliff ?

This is a comment in response to a post on CNBC's page,
https://www.facebook.com/cnbc

" CNBC's Maria Bartiromo on the 'fiscal cliff': "Leave it to Washington to make the worst decision time and again. And we all pay the price."

Read her full commentary on the fiscal cliff & what Washington is doing to fix it: http://www.cnbc.com/id/48701543

Are you worried about the potential layoffs and economic impact that could come as a result of the 'fiscal cliff' at the end of the year? "

Are you worried ?
Yes, unfortunately, this isn't a joke that ends with a trivial one word answer or an election result for that matter.

Given the scale of this one can't help but wonder.. Is there anybody out there that really cares about America? Silence is a sad way to answer such a reality. It is high time this nation and its people learn and prepare to brace and cope with the effects and consequences of going down that steep cliff. To put it mildly, it is pathetic to even hear or read of this or the empty arguments, the lack of political will or urgency and the senseless indecision that defies all logic. This did not happen overnight, and no one has the clear means or basis to outline the scope, the effects and the impact it is going to have on the economy. Americans should thank their leaders for leading them down this path and should take personal responsibility for what they have to live with and what is in store in the coming future. Putting the budget on a sustainable path will require significant changes in spending policies, tax policies, or both and given the way things are this is not something that will materialize that easily. Looks like someone will have to magically enforce this action.

FYI: The cliff is a series of major policy changes that will happen automatically at the end of this year if Congress does nothing. The big players on the tax side are the Bush tax cuts and the payroll tax cut. On the spending side, the automatic cuts included in last summer’s debt ceiling deal will take effect. But there’s a lot more, as you can see in this table from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget:

The combined effect will be a huge fiscal contraction, one which, according to conventional economic theory, could pose a real threat to the economic recovery. Here’s how the major provision break down by category, courtesy of the CBO:

The biggest provision is the Bush tax cuts, followed by the payroll tax cut and the cost of indexing the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) eligibility cutoff to inflation.

The payroll tax break expires this December, and the Bush tax cuts expire Jan. 1, meaning that new, higher rates will take effect the following year. Since payroll taxes are deducted from wages every week, the effect there will be immediate, whereas the income tax rate increases only affect income starting in 2013. If employers adjust withholding, the effects could come sooner, but if there are logistical hurdles to that, the economic dent could be delayed.
The sequestration cuts will take effect starting in January too, meaning their impact, like the payroll tax cut’s expiration, will be more immediate. The cuts are evenly split, with $27 billion each in 2013 for defense and non-defense spending, plus $12 billion in cuts to Medicare.

Crunching Numbers & Running the Equivalent of a
Simulated Economic Crash Test

If Congress does nothing, the U.S. will almost certainly go into recession early next year, as the combo of spending cuts and tax hikes will wipe out nearly 4 percentage points of economic growth in the first half of 2013. Since most estimates project the economy will grow only about 3 percent next year, that puts the U.S. solidly in the red.

The CBO estimates that the total effect of these provisions is a 3.9 percent reduction in the growth rate of GDP next year — enough to make the year’s total growth rate negative, plunging the country back into recession. What’s more, the mere anticipation of this change will reduce GDP growth by 0.5 percent this year. This change is not evenly distributed between the cliff’s components, as this chart from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget shows:

Eliminating or reducing the fiscal restraint to be scheduled to occur next year without imposing comparable restraint in future years would have substantial economic costs over the longer run. However allowing the full measure of fiscal restraint now embodied in current law to take effect next year would have substantial economic costs in the short run.

What might policymakers do under these circumstances?

One possibility is to leave current law in place, accepting the short-run economic costs of sharp fiscal restraint in order to put the federal budget on a sustainable longer run trajectory. Another possibility is to extend all current policies for a prolonged period, accepting the longer-run costs and risks of surging federal debt for some time.

An intermediate possibility is to extend some but not all current policies indefinitely (perhaps with some offsetting changes in other policies) or to extend or enact certain policies for a limited period. In particular, if policymakers wanted to minimize the short-run costs of narrowing the deficit very quickly while also minimizing the longer-run costs of allowing large deficits to persist, they could enact a combination of policies: changes in taxes and spending that would widen the deficit in 2013 relative to what would occur under current law but that would reduce deficits later in the decade relative to what would occur if current policies were extended for a prolonged period.

Such a combination of policies would use fiscal policy to support demand for goods and services in the short run, while the unemployment rate is high and many factories and offices are underused, but would impose fiscal restraint to bolster the economy’s production over the longer run, when output and employment will probably be close to their potential. That approach to fiscal policy would work best if the future policy changes were sufficiently specific and widely supported so that households, businesses, state and local governments, and participants in the financial markets believed that the future fiscal restraint would truly take effect. If such policy changes were enacted soon, they would tend to boost output and employment in the next few years by holding down interest rates and by reducing uncertainty and enhancing business and consumer confidence.

Enacting policy changes soon would allow for implementing them gradually while still limiting further increases in federal debt and the corresponding negative consequences. Although there are trade-offs in choosing when policy changes to reduce future deficits should take effect, there are important benefits and few apparent costs from deciding quickly what those changes will be.

Fix the Nation's Health

I came across this picture that's been circulating on social media. I understand how critical and sensitive this topic is. The line that stands out the most is, "If they were their own country"... sadly we've heard this time and again, the voices only seem to be getting louder, clearer and more demanding in places.

This could be considered as a great summation of how leadership can either unite or divide a nation on key issues. In an ideal world we would have imagined that the value of Life would be considered to be beyond comparison. And that people would naturally be compelled to collaborate and work together on a solution.

In an ideal world what would be your attitude towards your fellow being and the very fragility of our Lives? The need for healthcare reform in this country is beyond doubt or debate.

Quiet simply put, lives are at stake. Given the amount of resources and time that's been committed one would have definitely hoped that the means to achieving reform  would have been more amicable or at least some where along the middle ground. Insurance is definitely a great answer but is there no other road to reform ?  It is perfectly understandable why infringing upon the rights of an individual guaranteed under the constitution, and being bold enough to do it on multiple occasions is something that a lot of Americans would simply find unacceptable.

Again, lives are at stake, being thoughtful is the least that can be asked. We can hope.. and we can pray, but there are people out there who are clearly responsible, answerable and expected to act. So, Is this the only answer to reform ? For the sake of those who are fighting to stay alive and  for those that are in their own rights unwilling to be insured could we decide to be more determined to work harder in tackling this absurd stalemate. We really need to make progress and move forward in achieving reform that's way beyond due.  The issue needs to be addressed effectively and with a sense of moral obligation and urgency. One can only hope that our leaders don't dodge or dismiss it. Sometimes we all have no choice but to accept the weight of the collective guilt and the pain that we live in a country where cars are safer and treated better than lives. We are still in desperate need of an answer that works..... Please put Lives first.

P.S ~ Being Humane should come naturally to us. Being Humane is the price you must pay in exchange for this gift called life. And No one is less worthy of it.

If it Makes Perfect Sense, No One Can Redefine Meaning

This is a comment in response to the below letter I read today,

" Jaikrishna,
Last August, I stood in a living room in Andover and talked about why our country faced a massive deficit and what it would take to move us forward as a nation.

I'm proud of what I said. I meant every single word of it. I said, "There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own." I praised the people who did get rich. I said, "You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea, God Bless!" But I asked those who make it big to invest in the next generation of kids so they will have a chance too.

Nearly one million people have watched the video from that house party. If you haven't seen the full clip, you can watch it here. And If you've seen it, you can watch it again -- and share it with your friends. Let's show Scott Brown and Mitt Romney that we won't back down:

But we're pretty sure they're going to need employees who can read and write. They're going to need power to keep the lights on and clean water and functioning sewers to keep going. They're going to need roads and bridges to move their goods to market or bring customers to their store. And they're going to need police officers and firefighters to keep their businesses safe.

That's what makes America great. We make the investments together -- to put the conditions in place so that businesses can flourish and create more opportunities for all of us. And it keeps going forward. When we make it, all of us have an obligation to invest in creating the conditions so the next kid can get ahead, and the kid after that, and the kid after that.

I believe in small businesses. My brother started a small business. My daughter started a small business. My aunt started a small business--and that's where I worked when I was a teenager. I've seen up close and personal how hard small business owners work and how much they risk to make their businesses succeed.

Right now, Washington's rigged for the big corporations who can afford armies of lobbyists and lawyers -- not America's small businesses. If Republicans like Scott Brown and Mitt Romney have their way, the system is going to stay rigged for the big guys.

The Republicans have their vision for the future. It says, "I've got mine, the rest of you are on your own."

That's not the American Dream. That's not how we build a future for ourselves and our children. We build a future together.

Thank you for being a part of this,

Elizabeth"

P.S ~ I am very positive and sure that your supporters will always stay committed to you.

Heaven is blessed with perfect rest but the blessing of earth is toil.
~ Henry van Dyke

Sometimes we fail to accept the fact that regardless of the times common sense always prevails. There is absolutely no substitute for hard work. One needs to stay determined and make the effort without being too obsessed, distracted by or worried about the outcome.  It is a matter of being loyal and strongly committed to lasting and worthy values.

Perhaps at some point in your lives I am sure that many of you know what it feels like to work at minimum wage or something in range of it. Now I want you to imagine that you live a different life, you work a lot less and get paid a lot more. Lets say you are one of those fancy upper management professionals at some of those banks that are potentially preparing or are poised to fail some time in the foreseeable future. It's important to understand that within an organization like that people often resort to several tactics when it comes to management, a lot of them involve plenty of bad karma. The work may be largely monotonous, far from creative and excessively well paid. Again there are brilliant and admirable managers who are exceptional role models and then there are others who are determined to climb as high as they can and make as much as is possible giving up as little effort in exchange for it. There are plenty of examples for such organizations that may portray a facade but in actuality only serve as great case studies for any one who is curious or interested to learn about the avoidable. Eventually with age or retirement they get decommissioned but that Master-Servant-Slave Driver mentality, lack of creativity and the lust and greed for amassing the easy way by pushing the rest of us as hard as possible is very hard to let go off. They group up, they take their capital and their tactics and they hunt for opportunities to manipulate and extract more capital. For them life isn't about investing in values, places or people it's about being and living inside those perpetual gambling casinos that are locked inside their heads. Again not every one is like this there are plenty of very good exceptions but this country would have definitely been very different without them.

This election, the campaign funds seem to be pouring in like magical invisible rain from nowhere. These people that I just referred to above and the rest of their kind from around the world care very little about taking political sides for genuine reasons, a vast majority of them are strictly neutral and in search of their next   political puppet. A lot of people actively wish well and sincerely support progressives. In the face of a daunting opposition It can be understandably hard sometimes  to stay non aligned. But It's always good to know that one is sincere about keeping their words.

As for fiscal health, this is the n' th hour and yes one would have to go to any length, work with all sorts of people and use every trick there is to commit to extracting ourselves from the pit. Parallely it isn't money alone but rather access to quality Education, Healthcare and opportunities that truly have what it takes to make the American Dream a reality for so many. There are many feasible paths to this but the biggest obstacle being endless debates and bickering and no action.

For example if one were concerned about monitoring and raising children within one's family and in this country, look at all of the unpleasant things around.. that you don't want polluting your child's mind. Think about how much money and time is being spent annually towards something that is causing a moral decay and an absolute and unfortunate disintegration of values and heritage. Could you imagine what a big difference it would make to so many if you could encourage, support and inspire in a way that would ensure that that money be spent on something more constructive and meaningful in lines with the things mentioned above.

Where there is no real Will there will be an equally obvious lack of outcome.
But Where there is a Will there is always a Way.

Sincerely,

You Live With The Choices You Make, So Choose Wisely

This is a comment in response to an article on the Huffington Post,

Since when if ever, was making money or being rich such a crime in this so called land of opportunity, liberty, prosperity and freedom. A lot of people here spend a great deal of their lives and their days far away from things like entertainment and mainstream media, they are usually up against the wall, very busy working hard and meticulously investing their time, energy, efforts, planning and resources towards their futures. The last few years have been very tough on a lot of Americans. It is really sad to say that a lot of wealthy American investors have been forced to pay a hefty price for unwise decisions, policies, mismanaged funds and a changing country that has on several fronts become needlessly over regulated, unreliable and unattractive to anyone with a reasonable amount of justified fear, common sense and wisdom.

Your main focus should be to commit resources and invest in highly essential priorities like education and infrastructure and make things as feasible and as beneficial as possible to businesses and supporting industries. Your main focus should be to collaborate and work with homegrown industries and facilitate in making America as attractive, productive, yielding and safe as possible for investors and businesses. You can't waste away precious time and resources on unrealistic strategies like excessive governance, short term stimulus, all the pointless projects that go with it  and so many of these highly publicized attempts at job creation. These are sensible steps in the right direction but unfortunately they are not in line with what has made America prosperous historically. At times the environment, sentiments and trends are as such that it feels like you are living in a new country if not an entirely different place altogether. In other words on account of such negligence and complacence the country has needlessly slipped away and changed to such an extent that the average enterprising businessman, wealthy investor and the rest of the best of America's very own by products are all being forced to shy away or flee and find alternatives and a future offshore.

I sincerely hope and wish that people would learn to criticize and examine someone to expose their realistic capacity and abilities to conduct office and to do a reasonable job. Trying to sway or manipulate the emotions of the masses and potential voters based on deliberately disparaging and inaccurate presentations, prejudice and uncivilized passive aggressive hate won't work with the average educated or hardworking American who uses his brain and can think for himself. All this here article proves is that he has done well for himself and his family and is unlike many others who have abandoned ship and forfeited their citizenship. A person like that would succeed no matter what. The only big question off course has to do with his plans for the future and his level of commitment to America and its people. Are they family enough? Regardless of our personal opinions and tastes we must strive to wish all candidates well but the only desperate appeal at this point is to ensure the whole process is unbiased and fair. I know this expectation is perhaps a little too much to ask of some of the sections of the media and the way they are playing their strategies this election. This is understandably big fodder for those who love to sensationalize and extract stories for all they are worth. Please do not forget to engage in a bit of honest journalistic work because it is a part of your moral responsibility and obligation towards this country, its people and their future. There are always great pros and cons to such critical issues. The next four years will definitely be a sensitive phase and a critical turning point for this country. You live with the choices you make. Being sensible, thoughtful and mindful of how you, your actions and what you put out there can impact the outcome is the least that one can expect at this stage.

Again, You Live With The Choices You Make, So Choose Wisely.
I Wish You All the very Best. God Bless :)

PROTECT IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act: A Case for Better Preparedness

This isn’t an Argument but rather a Case for Better Preparedness and a Broader Strategic Realignment

It is important to note the big difference between technology firms such as Google, social media platforms such as Facebook and the Motion Picture Association of America and the Recording Industry Association of America. It is unacceptable and unfair to claim to talk about a middle ground or a reasonable position of compromise that is fair without understanding how they all function as businesses.

This a comment in response to a post on TAP: Technology | Academics | Policy's Community Page on Facebook

Quoting from the article,

‘claims that Congress’ efforts against online piracy would “break the internet” and usher in censorship and “Finding a reasonable solution to the problem of online piracy and counterfeiting is too important to let hysterical, ideological posturing and threats influence public policy,”

…… these types of responses are completely understandable and absolutely expected and anticipated by most people in the technology industry. It is sad that even in this day and age despite all the progress and radical growth and impact that we have seen, some people still think of the internet as a place that is mostly or solely meant for sharing music, movies and proprietary digital content. I’m quiet certain that given this attitude the people entrusted with the job are not likely to focus on the challenges, that will greatly impact the way in which many sites are carefully designed and function around the way in which people openly and freely use the internet. Technology firms have to constantly adapt to people, their consumers, the average internet user, the competition and the trends and a comprehensive sketch of their patterns of behavior, market conditions and changing habits online. Sales and Marketing strategies for most internet based commercial transactions and even for media giants are based firmly on many of these highly relevant fundamentals that are intrinsic to how the Internet works and evolves. The condescending naivety with which these things are ignorantly referred to as ‘Hysteria and ideological posturing’ unmistakably proves that the issues that are central and matter evenly from the perspectives of all parties concerned, including sites such as Google, social media platforms, small/ medium sized businesses, independent publishers, the internet itself and the public who use it, are least likely to be considered on the basis of facts and rational argumentation.

This is strictly an opinion……:I think it is important for people, especially high profile technology firms and highly used websites to stop worrying about or wasting anymore time dealing with these types of policies and the market conditions and legal/economic environments that may come about, and start embracing new strategies to allocate a budget and try their best to develop neutral technologies and neutral technological barriers that will fully enable them to selectively or terminally insulate themselves from certain sections of mainstream media that are most likely to abuse the provisions of this Act and also make efforts to protect themselves from a legal system that may affect the environment in which their business processes function or provisions that could be used to unfairly target them, their media partners and ultimately their business itself. If you wish to engage in business or promote sales and business interests of big content owners then you must carefully setup the mechanism to ensure everything occurs contractually and not otherwise. It is also highly advisable to buy insurance coverage for legal liabilities or allocate sizable amount of funds to safeguard against these types of possible risks and threats (Many publishers and firms who were anticipating this and that I’m aware of have millions in coverage and pay hefty premiums as an added overhead to their existing budgets) .

The public must use the example of China and see what has happened to their internet users in the recent past to psychologically prepare themselves to start having access to only a certain percentage of sites, servers and domains present on the World Wide Web and be very…. Very….. careful as to how they use the internet or rather how they should not use the internet to share any copyright protected content whether it is for their personal use or if it is with their friends, their family or on other social media platforms. Even if they have their own content which they may wish to publish online they must take extra measures to avoid placing any third party media elements on the site or incase they don’t have the financial backing they must also avoid making references to potentially harmful material that could be used again to implicate them legally under the provisions of the Acts. I’m not expecting it but I hope and pray that the people who are rushing to promote these laws will show the same level of enthusiasm when it comes to educating the masses and the online community about the exactly ‘N’ number of ways in which they could be in trouble while sharing online or while assuming that they are exercising their constitutional rights. This will make these companies with an online presence responsible for the actions of people who may choose to supposedly, deliberately or allegedly “misuse” the technologies and platforms that they are providing or in other words they’ll be the first to be held responsible if the measures that they have in place fail.

I’m not saying that we are another China – II in the making, but we are definitely starting to look something like many of these countries especially since people and industries here are desperately trying to stay ahead and in many cases are trying to stay in par with the competition, especially in terms of growth, advancing technologically and having the financial health, resources, supporting industries/infrastructure and the means to realign the strategic outlook of their future.

The people in China didn’t make a lot of noise and even if they did there is no way you could have heard it,

I hope the following link clearly hints you to accept the fact that industries here, that could and should potentially complement and even achieve a great synergy in many ways, are not quiet any where near doing the same. Where there is self centeredness there can be no synergy.

I’m an optimist, I believe that adapting to problems and adopting solutions aggressively is the key mantra to survival in this day and age. Time is too precious a resource that can easily outweigh all others. It takes a reasonably intelligent and logical mind to respect the rights, the freedoms, the time, the lives, the voices and the problems of others.

I don't know if there is a difference of mentality or outlook or culture when it comes to the people working in the concerned industries, I don't know if this difference is irreconcilable either but there comes a point where we have to look beyond mere arguments and our differences and think of the collective higher good. Showbiz can be a funny word that means different things to different people, art to some, ratings to others and $Money$ to the people who matter the most. Business can get dirty at times and life can get tricky, but we need to appreciate and learn by dealing with the challenges we face rather than imposing them in a way that sidelines the rights of others and the public who are outside the industry and don't quiet understand what are the substantial and legitimate concerns that plague the industry, address and bring out those issues in a way that will not cause it to be confused with other broader rights. I wish every one both my dear friends in Technology and others in the Entertainment/ media industry the very best. Why argue when you have the means and the choice of being civilized enough to talk and state your concerns in a respectful, constructive and viable way. It doesn’t matter who or what you represent or what your business interests are, there is nothing you can’t achieve by putting people first above all else : )
